Farooq Rehmani condemns Eid prayers restrictions in Srinagar

ISLAMABAD, June 19 (SABAH): Muhammad Farooq Rehmani, Chairman J&K People’s Freedom League and ex-Convener All Parties Hurriyat Conference AJ&K, has lambasted Indian regime for disrupting fundamental religious right of the believers to offer Eid-Al-Adha prayers in both Eidgah and Jamia-Masjid Srinagar consecutively for the 6th row since 2019, forcing the people in the metropolitan city to celebrate Eid without being allowed to open the gates of the two central worshipping places of Kashmir.

Muhammad Farooq Rehmnai termed it a horrifying infringement of the fundamental religious rights of Muslims under an extremist Hindutva regime in India, which was unacceptable and could not be tolerated by the Muslims. He stated that the world leadership at the UN should mark the increasing trend in the Hindutva corridors of power at Delhi, thrust of Hindutva political activism over the rights and freedoms of a universal faith that belongs to an overwhelming majority in Jammu and Kashmir State.

Muhammad Farooq Rehmani strongly denounced a revengeful and obnoxious decision of the Indian authorities to prosecute the country’s renowned writer and critic and human rights spokesperson–Arundhat Roy for her political views, under the so called Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act. He said the racist BJP leadership had nothing learnt from electoral results of the last General elections throughout India, which reflected a beginning of the party’s political eclipse.

Muhammad Farooq Rehmani also seriously reacted to restrictions on freedom of press and interviews in the Ghanta Ghar Chowk around the historical Red Square Ameera Kadl Srinagar. He criticised the Police in the Lal Chowk for watching and preventing journalists from interviewing the people on the public issues of the citizens. The people were surprised to feel that although Modi and BJP had failed to rally the people behind their racist political program, yet they were restricting and detaining the Kashmiris but the PM Mr Modi had no feeling of guilt and he was making another regional tour to Srinagar to hoodwink the world.

Muhammad Farooq Rehmani urged on the world Human Rights watchdogs and the UN to mark the intensity of suppression of freedom of thought in Jammu and Kashmir and failure to honour the Universal Declaration of Human Rights under the BJP rule. India’s ultra-Hindu regime had misunderstood the people, who were determined to accomplish their national cause of freedom at all costs in the near future.
