People rejected the cruel policies & extremist behavior of BJP in the recent parliamentary elections of India: Ali Raza Syed
BRUSSELS, June 06 (SABAH): Chairman Kashmir Council Europe (KCEU) Ali Raza Syed has said that the people have rejected the cruel policies and extremist behavior of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the recent parliamentary elections of India.
In his statement while commenting on the surprising results of the recent elections of the Indian lower house “Lok Sabha” Ali Raza Syed said that the results show that the bias and extremist politics of the ruling party BJP under the patronage of Narendra Modi is not acceptable for the Indian people at all.
On the election’s outcomes in Occupied Kashmir in particular, he added, just as in 2019, the Modi government tried to deprive the people of Occupied Kashmir of the right to self-determination by abolishing the special status of Jammu and Kashmir, which India had promised them decades ago, in the same way, the Kashmiri people voted in the elections against Modi’s unfair and undemocratic policies and biased behavior.
Chairman Kashmir Council EU Ali Raza Syed said that although under the Indian Constitution, the elections in Jammu and Kashmir are not equal to internationally supervised plebiscite according to the UN resolutions, but it is very important that the founders of modern India, especially Jawaharlal Nehru not only given special status to the Jammu and Kashmir while also had promised to give the right of self-determination to Kashmiris.
It is far from fulfilling the promise to Kashmiris, the Modi government amended the Indian constitution five years ago and abolished the articles 370 and 35A of the constitution related to the special status of Jammu and Kashmir. He said that after the removal of the special status of Jammu and Kashmir, the Kashmiri people became the direct target of the cruel policies of the Modi government and strict restrictions were imposed on the Kashmiris. In addition, the occupied territory was divided into three parts and taken under the direct control of the central government in New Delhi.
Chairman Kashmir Council EU said that the Modi government not only abrogated the provisions of the Indian Constitution regarding the special status of Jammu and Kashmir, but also changed the domicile laws of the state to settle non-Kashmiris in the disputed region of Jammu and Kashmir, so that the population ratio of the Kashmiris can be changed.
According to the results of the Lok Sabha elections, the BJP has been completely rejected in occupied Kashmir and the opponents of the Modi government have won, which shows that the people of Occupied Kashmir have not only rejected the BJP but they also want India to hold a plebiscite under international supervision while maintaining the special status of Jammu and Kashmir that it had promised to Kashmiris.
The Kashmiri people also want an immediate halt to the steps taken by the Modi government to change the proportion of the Kashmiri population and to restore the old domicile laws. He said that during the Modi government, apart from Jammu and Kashmir, the minorities living in India also faced severe difficulties, that is why the BJP has also been defeated in many Indian states including Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, West Bengal, including Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Punjab, Manipur and Chandigarh.
The Indian people even defeated the BJP in the city of Ayodhya where the party provoked people to demolish the Babri mosque and replace it with a Ram temple. Ali Raza Syed asked all the political and social circles of India, including the civil society who are standing against the undemocratic and biased politics of the BJP and the international community as well, to help the people of Jammu and Kashmir in obtaining their right to self-determination as per the Indian promise, So that the Kashmiris can freely decide their political future.
