Sirajul Haq lambasts govt for damaging the spirit of the constitution by introducing frequent presidential ordinances
LAHORE, Feb 25 (SABAH): Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan Emir Sirajul Haq has lambasted the government for damaging the spirit of the constitution by introducing frequent presidential ordinances in three and half years to forward its undemocratic agenda.
Addressing the first session of the JI Majlise Shura (central executive council) at Mansoorah on Friday, Sirajul Haq also criticized the ruling party for its failure to provide any relief to the masses during the period.
The fact was that, Sirajul Haq said, the PTI’s incompetence had badly exposed as it could not bring improvement in any field from economy to write of law since 2018.
The Shura sessions will continue till Sunday. The prevailing political situation and organizational matters will be discussed during the three days. Different committees will present their reports.
As the JI has completed consultation on 45 percent of candidates for national and provincial assemblies’ seats, Sirajul Haq announced the central parliamentary board will meet soon to finalize recommendations on the remaining seats. The JI, he said, would contest elections all over the country on its own symbol and flag. “The corruption free Islamic Pakistan”, he said, will be JI’s main slogan for polls. He expressed regret over the delay of local government elections in different provinces and highlighted the need for free and fair polls to put the country on track.
The PTI’s electoral reforms, he said, were mere an eyewash and a tactic to rig the coming elections. The JI, he said, would continue its 101-sit in movement against inflation, unemployment and corruption and decisive march will be held towards Islamabad. He also criticized the main opposition parties for supporting the government on FATA and IMF’s dictated legislations. Basically, he said, the PTI, the PML-N and the PPP were the sides of the same coin. The present and past governments, he said, failed to strength institutions and provide any relief to the masses.
Sirajul Haq said the JI wanted an Islamic Pakistan and the people of the country should support the cause to bring real change in the country.
