Hafiz Naeemur Rehman announces nationwide protest demonstration for Friday in response to the Israeli army’s bombardment of Rafah
LAHORE, May 28 (SABAH): Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan Emir Engineer Hafiz Naeemur Rehman has announced a nationwide protest demonstration for Friday in response to the Israeli army’s bombardment of Rafah.
In a statement issued from Mansoorah on Tuesday, he condemned Israel’s recent attack on Western Rafah, targeting tents housing displaced persons. International media reports indicate that over 21 individuals, including 12 women, were martyred, and dozens more sustained injuries in the assault.
This marks the second assault by Israeli forces on Rafah following the International Court of Justice’s verdict demanding an immediate cessation of bombardment in the area.
Hafiz Naeemur Rehman emphasized that this attack underscores Israel’s disregard for international laws and the appeals of humanitarian organizations. Additionally, he announced that JI would organize the Gaza Million March in Karachi on June 2nd (Sunday) to express solidarity with the people of Gaza.
Reaching out to the public, he urged full participation in both Friday’s and Sunday’s events, suggesting that their involvement could potentially awaken Muslim world rulers, including those of Pakistan, from their indifference.
Expressing dismay over the silence of Islamic world leaders regarding Israeli atrocities in Palestine, Hafiz Naeemur Rehman criticized Islamabad for failing to adequately represent the sentiments of Pakistanis on the Palestinian issue. He highlighted a significant disconnect between the rulers and the populace of the Muslim world concerning Palestine, attributing the reluctance of leaders to condemn Israel to pressure from Washington.
