Govt should not burden the people but the elites: Hafiz Naeemur Rehman
LAHORE, May 27 (SABAH): Emir Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan Engineer Hafiz Naeemur Rehman has said that the International Monetary Fund (IMF) representatives are issuing orders as viceroys while PDM government is busy obeying them with tied hands and bowed heads.
Expressing his views on social media site X, Hafiz Naeemur Rehman said that the IMF has come up with many cruel conditions for the new bailout package, imposing 18% sales tax on all commodities including medicines will be cruel to the people, how long will the ruling class continue to burden the people and continue to save the landlords? He demanded that the government should not burden the people but the elite.
Hafiz Naeemur Rehman said that Israel is now burning Palestinians alive in the safe humanitarian zone, adding the displaced civilians in Rafah are being deliberately martyred. He said such examples of brutality are rare in the history of mankind. He said the decision of the International Court of Justice was burnt to ashes in the rain of missiles on Rafah.
He said the United Nations would certainly prefer to remain silent on this insult, adding the criminal silence of the Muslim rulers is regrettable. He said that only condemnation statement by Islamabad is not enough and added the rulers should express the sentiments of the people, mobilize the Islamic world and issue a warning to Israel in categorical terms.
Hafiz Naeemur Rehman said that a national agenda has been formed in consultation with the recent Majlis Shura meeting of Jamaat-e-Islami, under which mass mobilization will be done, and the national movement will be launched after Eid. He said national agenda includes supremacy of constitution and law, restoration of democracy, achievement of economic stability, completion of Iran-Pakistan gas pipeline, restoration of women’s rights, solution of youth problems, improvement of education, industry and agriculture. He said that Jamaat-e-Islami will also oppose restrictions on journalism and social media.
