ISLAMABAD, May 26 (SABAH): Federal Minister for Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony, Chaudhry Salik Hussain has expressed his regret over the attempt to spread unrest in Sargodha.
In a statement issued from his office, the minister condemned the alleged blasphemy allegation in Sargodha and the resulting unrest. The minister praised the prompt reaction of the Punjab Police and other law enforcement agencies in maintaining peace during the incident. He emphasized that it is not the teaching of religion to react immediately to any rumor.
Chaudhry Salik Hussain stated that there is a proper law in Pakistan to deal with blasphemy and hatred. He warned that those who take the law into their own hands will face consequences. The minister reiterated that the State of Pakistan is the guarantor of the security of all citizens, irrespective of their religion. He added that the constitution of Pakistan and the edicts of Quaid-e-Azam are the guiding light for the nation.
Chaudhry Salik Hussain acknowledged the effective role played by religious leaders living in Pakistan in promoting harmony in society. He called for unity in thwarting any attempt to spread hatred, religious intolerance, and defame Pakistan on social media.
