Pakistan will continue extending its moral, political & diplomatic support to Kashmiris: PM Shehbaz

MUZAFFARABAD, May 16 (SABAH): Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has reiterated that Pakistan will continue extending its moral, political and diplomatic support to Kashmiris.

Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif was talking to a delegation of Hurriyat leaders of Jammu and Kashmir, which called on him in Muzaffarabad on Thursday.

The delegation comprised Mahmood Ahmed Sagar, Ghulam Muhammad Sufi, Syed Faiz Ahmed Naqshbandi, Altaf Ahmed Bhat, ShehzadWani, IjazRehani, Zahid Ashraf and AltafHussainWani.

Azad Kashmir Prime Minister Chaudhry Anwar-ul-Haq and federal ministers were also present during the meeting.

Speaking on the occasion, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said he effectively presented the case of Jammu and Kashmir at the OIC summit held in the Gambia. He said the Foreign Office and Pakistan’s Missions abroad will play their due role in further highlighting the Kashmir dispute at the international level.

Shehbaz Sharif urged the Pakistani media to play its role in appraising the world of Indian atrocities in the Occupied Kashmir.

He also directed Minister for Kashmir Affairs and Gilgit-Baltistan Amir Muqam to further improve coordination with the Hurriyat leaders. He said Pakistan categorically rejects New Delhi’s unilateral and illegal measures regarding the status of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

He said Jammu and Kashmir is an internationally recognized dispute, pending unresolved on the agenda of UN Security Council for over seven decades. The Pakistan Prime Minister added the future of Jammu and Kashmir should be decided as per the relevant UN Security Council Resolutions and wishes of the people of Kashmir. He said India cannot shirk its international obligations through its so-called legislation and judicial decisions.

The Hurriyat leaders commended the Prime Minister of Pakistan for amicably resolving the recent situation in Azad Kashmir. Condemning the illegal and unilateral Indian acts about the status of Jammu and Kashmir, they thanked the Government of Pakistan for expressing solidarity with the people of Kashmir.
