Public demands & protests are rights of people: Liaqat Baloch
LAHORE, May 14 (SABAH): Naib Emir Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan and former parliamentary leader, Liaqat Baloch has said that public demands and protests are rights of the people. He said Islamabad government and powerful rulers of Rawalpindi are involved in faulty actions and dangerous strategy regarding issues of Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan.
While talking to Azad Kashmir Jamaat-e-Islami Emir Dr. Muhammad Mushtaq Khan, General Secretary Raja Jehangir Khan and Naib Emir Sheikh Aqeelur Rehman, Liaqat Baloch said that Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan have special status which is why the federation and government of state of Azad Jammu and Kashmir will have to do particular preferential measures for giving relief to the people.
In Azad Kashmir, he said the civil rulers and ruling political parties demonstrated culpable negligence during protest in solving public issues. Nationalist parties of Azad Kashmir and rejected groups of the people tried to damage freedom movement of Kashmir under the guise of public protest, he said. He added Jamaat-e-Islami stand by people of Azad Jammu and Kashmir for sorting out their problems. He said Jamaat-e-Islami also stand by people of occupied Kashmir for solution of Kashmir dispute in the light of resolutions of the United Nations and it is against the fascism of India.
After two day visit of Lower Dir and Upper Dir, Liaqat Baloch said that federal and provincial governments are ignoring public sentiments in Malakhand Division regarding the issue of imposition of tax, adding the traders and public are protesting. He said ahead of imposition of tax, the government should implement the agreements done with the people of Malakand. He said after holding negotiation with all political, business and civil society stakeholders, a practicable roadmap of tax imposition should be made.
After Azad Kashmir, Karachi and Gwadar, the people are on way to protest in Malakand, he said and added the people of Punjab are protesting regarding the wheat crisis. He said in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the government of Form 45 and at Centre and other provinces, the governments of Form 47 are practically failed. He said the National Assembly and Punjab, Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan assemblies have failed in sorting out issues of the people.
