Shehbaz Sharif approves immediate provision of Rs 23 biln to solve problems of the people of AJK
ISLAMABAD, May 13 (SABAH): Prime Minister Mian Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has approved the immediate provision of Rs 23 billion to solve the problems of the people of Azad Jammu and Kashmir.
The approval was given at a special meeting chaired by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif in Islamabad on Monday. It took stock of the current situation in AJK.
The meeting was attended by the Prime Minister of Azad Jammu and Kashmir Chaudhry Anwarul Haq and the top political leadership. The Ministers and leaders of coalition parties also participated in the meeting.
The Kashmiri leadership and other participants thanked the Prime Minister for the announcement regarding provision of funds.
Meanwhile Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif says the welfare of the people of Balochistan is our first priority. Chairing an important meeting on the affairs of Balochistan province, in Islamabad on Monday, PM Shehbaz sharif said the federal government will work together with the provincial government for the development and prosperity of Balochistan.
Speaking on the occasion, the Prime Minister reiterated the speedy completion of the process of shifting agricultural tube wells to solar energy in Balochistan.
He said the federal government will provide all possible assistance regarding the transition of agricultural tube wells to solar energy.
The Prime Minister directed to minimize the electricity load shedding in Balochistan until the transition of agricultural tube wells to solar energy so that agricultural production from crops is not affected. He also directed to expedite work on important projects of Prime Minister’s South Balochistan Package.
The Prime Minister further said that equal opportunities for education and employment are being provided to the youth of the province so that the people of Balochistan continue to play an important role in the development of the country.
He expressed hope that the new provincial cabinet led by the Balochistan Chief Minister will play its role in solving the problems of the province and putting it on the path of development.
Meanwhile Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has directed the authorities concerned to use technology to make the wheat procurement process clean and transparent.
Chairing a meeting regarding wheat stocks in Lahore, he said a mobile phone application should be developed in this regard.
The Prime Minister ordered the suspension of the Managing Director and the General Manager Procurement of PASSCO for not following the instructions regarding the use of technology in the wheat procurement process and for being negligent in this regard.
Shehbaz Sharif directed to conduct a third party audit of PASSCO’s stock. He said insurance of crops should be ensured for economic security of farmers.
The Prime Minister directed PASSCO to procure four lakh metric tons of additional wheat in a transparent and efficient manner. Farmer’s loss will not be tolerated under any circumstances.
He said good performing PASSCO centers and officers will be selected and recognized at government level.
Shehbaz Sharif said the government is taking every possible step to ensure food security in the country and that all out measures will be taken for the prosperity of farmers.
