Seminars, walk, aftaar dinners & other awareness programs were held at regional & district level across country on Int’l Day of Orphans

RAWALPINDI, March 26 (SABAH): Seminars, walk, aftaar dinner and other awareness programs were held at regional and district level across the country on 15th Ramadan, the International Day of Orphans under Alkhidmat Foundation Pakistan in which courageous orphans children and their mothers participated.

Distinguished persons belonging to different fields of life assured the orphan children that they are not alone in this society. While talking on World Orphan Day, President Alkhidmat Foundation Pakistan Professor Dr. Hafeezur Rehman said that purpose behind cerebrating this day is to inculcate awareness in the society about the orphan children. He said sponsorship of orphans is the responsibility of governments or the general public, adding being carelessness in this regard may become reason of punishment for all of us.

He said Alkhidmat Foundation and other welfare organizations are fulfilling responsibility of sponsorship of orphans. He said Alkhidmat’s Family Support Program is sponsoring 27766 courageous orphan children at their homes while in 22 Alkhidmat Aghosh Homes, sponsorship of 1837 orphan children is underway.

He said that by and large Alkhidmat Foundation spends two billion and 50 crore rupees on sponsorship of 30000 orphan children. He said there are more than 17 crore orphan children across the world and majority of those is in African and Asian countries, adding more 46 lac orphan children are our responsibility.

Prof. Dr. Hafeezur Rehman said where wars, anarchy and natural calamities bring message of destruction for the countries and the nations there lives of innocent children also become very difficult. During the current crisis in Gaza, large number of children became orphans, he said and added Alkhidmat has completed planning for sponsorship of these Palestinian children. As soon as the situation normalizes, the practical measures would be taken, he added.
