Nation celebrates Pakistan Day with a renewed pledge to work hard for the progress & stability of country
ISLAMABAD, March 23 (SABAH): Nation celebrated Pakistan Day on Saturday with a renewed pledge to work hard for the progress and stability of country.
The day marks adoption of historic Lahore Resolution on this day in 1940 that provided a framework for realization of the goal of a separate homeland for Muslims of South Asia.
The day dawned with 31-gun salute in the federal capital and 21-gun salute in provincial capitals.
Special prayers were offered in mosques after Fajr prayers for prosperity and solidarity of the country.
The Sindh Governor Muhammad Kamran Khan Tessori along with members of Sindh cabinet visited Mazaar-e-Quaid in Karachi on Saturday. He laid floral wreath and offered fateha.
Talking to media on the occasion Kamran Khan Tessori paid rich tributes to the father of the nation Muhammad Ali Jinnah and said that the day will always be remembered for historic resolution of 1940 in Lahore.
Like other parts of the country, Pakistan Day was celebrated across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Saturday with a commitment for the development, stability and prosperity of the country.
The day dawned with a 21-gun salute in the provincial capital Peshawar.
Like other parts of the country Pakistan Day was celebrated throughout Balochistan with national zeal and zest.
In this connection various functions and sports events were held to highlight the importance of the day in its historic perspective.
Pakistan Day was also celebrated across AJK on Saturday. The day dawned with 21 gun salutes in capital Muzaffarabad.
Special prayers were offered for integrity of the country and early liberation of the Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
Flag hoisting ceremonies were held at all district headquarters of the state. Seminars, and programs are being held in all major cities of the state.
Pakistan day was also celebrated with full national enthusiasm in all districts of Gilgit-Baltistan. The main event organized by Pakistan Army was held in Gilgit.
Governor Gilgit Baltistan Syed Mehdi Shah, hoisted the flag on the occasion. Provincial ministers, special assistants to the chief minister and civil and military officials participated in the ceremony.
A special parade by Pakistan Army, Navy, FC, Coast Guards, Police and Levies was organized in Gwadar on Saturday to mark Pakistan Day.
Tunes of the anthems of the armed forces were played while band of Pakistan Navy remained the center of attention on the occasion. People from far and wide gathered in Gwadar to witness the display of fireworks at the ceremony.
Member of Provincial Assembly from Gwadar Maulana Hidayat-ur-Rehman, Pakistan Navy Commander Western Coast, Chairman Gwadar Port Authority and other senior civil and military officials attended the ceremony.
