Govt emerging from a fraudulent election would be short-lived: Sirajul Haq

LAHORE, Feb 24 (SABAH): Jamaat-e-Islami Emir Sirajul Haq has asserted that a government emerging from a fraudulent election would be short-lived, lasting mere months.

Speaking at an Islami Jamiat Talba meeting at Punjab University on Saturday, Sirajul Haq questioned why the people’s time on February 8 was wasted if the sanctity of their votes was to be violated.

He vowed that the nation would not remain silent in the face of a stolen mandate, criticizing the continuation of corrupt practices in the country. He expressed belief that the era of vote robbery practices was coming to an end, emphasizing the need to honor the people’s mandate.

Highlighting the alleged misuse of Rs50 billion from the national exchequer in a fraudulent exercise, he lamented the re-emergence of two dynasties against the people’s February 8 vote. He underscored that ruling parties were dependent on the establishment’s support and criticized them as agents of the establishment.

Addressing the disillusionment of the youth due to alleged election rigging, he claimed it turned the country’s democracy into a laughingstock. He pledged that the Jamaat-e-Islami would relentlessly highlight election robbery and fight for people’s rights through peaceful democratic means.

Commending Islami Jamiat Talba for upholding high moral values and youth leadership, Sirajul Haq hailed the youth as a blessing for the country and a symbol of its unity. He expressed confidence in the youth of Pakistan as the real hope of the nation.
