Sirajul Haq expresses deep concern over the alleged election fraud on February 8

LAHORE, Feb 20 (SABAH): Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan Emir Sirajul Haq has expressed deep concern over the alleged election fraud on February 8, stating that it jeopardizes the nation’s future.

Addressing the Central Shura of Islami Jamiat Talba at Mansoorah on Tuesday, Sirajul Haq emphasized that the stolen mandate scheme aimed to discourage the youth who had actively participated in the voting process.

The results were stolen in favour of the PML-N, the PPP and the MQM, he said, adding the country could become a laughing stock in the world after the results manipulation. Sirajul Haq underscored the detrimental impact of continued election rigging on the country’s progress and democratic foundation, asserting that a government formed on a pilfered mandate would fail to bring economic and political stability. He highlighted the pivotal role of the youth in shaping the nation’s destiny, lamenting the lack of educational and employment opportunities that led to brain drain and a significant number of children being out of school due to poverty.

Calling for the IJT’s commitment to character building, leadership preparation, and educational improvement, Sirajul Haq acknowledged the Jamait positive influence on guiding students. He blamed corrupt rulers for hindering the country’s potential despite its abundant resources, emphasizing the JI’s belief in the rule of law and the conviction that an Islamic system is essential for problem-solving.

Sirajul Haq announced upcoming initiatives, including a session for national and provincial assembly contestants from KP on February 21 to strategize for the future and a “Save the Democracy Conference” in Islamabad on February 25.
