Commissioner has no role in electoral process: Khawaja Asif

SIALKOT, Feb 18 (SABAH): Senior leader of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and former minister for defence Khawaja Muhammad Asif has said that commissioner has no role in the electoral process and politicians would have to make decisions while putting aside their own interests.

While addressing a press conference at Sialkot, Khawaja Muhammad Asif said that what commissioner said its reality came forth in the evening and his motives became public after few hours. He said the Election Commission has made a committee while taking notice of this case and its report will come after three days due to which one should not discuss about it.

He further said all the control of election process is with the district returning officer and returning officer. The commissioner, he said may have indirect relation with it but directly has no role with the election process.

The former federal minister said that background of commissioner Rawalpindi has come forth and questioned why Liaquat Ali Chatha remembered after nine days the rigging in the election.

Khawaja Asif said that the politicians are violating their past statements and added the people will disappoint from the decisions being made for making the government. He said that they have been in a working relationship with the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP).

In Punjab, the former minister said that Pakistan Muslim League is in a position of making government with simple majority, adding there has been some development for formation of the federal government. He noted economic stability could not be made possible until and unless political stability, adding politicians would have to make decisions while putting aside their own interests.
