Election Commission must rectify irregularities till Feb 22 according to the court order & issue results as per form 45: Hafiz Naeemur Rehman
KARACHI, Feb 14 (SABAH): On a petition filed by Jamaat-e-Islami in Sindh High Court against spurious elections results and Sindh High Court order to Election Commission to decide the issue till Feb 22 and court remarks regarding form 45 and 47, Emir Jamaat-e-Islami Karachi Engineer Hafiz Naeemur Rehman has demanded that Election Commission of Pakistan must rectify irregularities till February 22 according to the judicial order and issue results as per form 45.
Hafiz Naeemur Rehman said they are saying since day one that form 47 should be issued while changing form 45 wherein Jamaat-e-Islami’s won candidates were shown as unsuccessful ones. He said there is a clear difference between form 45 issued from presiding officers and RO’s form 47 which is a proof of rigging.
He further said that Jamaat-e-Islami will safeguard its won seats and votes, adding the Karachiites have expressed more confidence in Jamaat-e-Islami than that of local bodies’ polls. “We will never abandon our mandate. Jamaat-e-Islami is continuously fighting against spurious mandate in Karachi. We are staging protests and fighting constitutional, legal, political and democratic fight in this regard. We have also protested at Election Commission Sindh office and on number of places in the city. We will protest on Feb 16 at election office Islamabad,” he added.
Hafiz Naeemur Rehman said it is constitutional and legal responsibility of Election Commission to hold free, fair and transparent elections in the country but it has completely failed in fulfilling its responsibility. In Karachi such candidates have been given NA seats who have even not taken a few thousands votes, he said and added public opinion has been once again ignored.
