We express our unequivocal solidarity with brave & courageous people of Kashmir on Kashmir Solidarity Day: Nkosi ZMD Mandela

PRETORIA, Feb 04 (SABAH): The grandson of late Nelson Mandela, Nkosi ZMD Mandela has said that the 5th February marks International Day of Solidarity with the Kashmiri People.

In a statement issued in connection with the International Kashmir Solidarity Day, being observed today (Saturday), Nkosi ZMD Mandela said that we express our unequivocal solidarity with the brave and courageous people of Kashmir and support their right to self-determination in accordance with the United Nations Security Council Resolution 47.

“We call for the immediate release of all political prisoners, right of return for Kashmiris in exile, freedom of expression and the restoration of human rights of all Kashmiris” Nkosi ZMD Mandela said.

Nkosi ZMD Mandela said that we call on all freedom loving people of the world to support the struggle of the people of Kashmiri and to revoke the 2019 Indian annexation of occupied Kashmir. He said that for more than 70 years the heroic people of Kashmir have struggled for freedom and the right to self-determination. Their struggle is our struggle and we support their fundamental human rights just as we support the just struggle of oppressed and suffering people all over the world.

Nkosi ZMD Mandela said that over the past seven decades Kashmir has witnessed an endless string of human rights violations including mass killings, enforced disappearances, brutal torture, rape and sexual abuse as well as political repression, occupation and suppression of freedom of speech.

Nkosi ZMD Mandela said that we will continue to support the Kashmiri people in their struggle until they win the struggle for self-determination and freedom. President Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela reminded us that ‘as long as there is a single human being suffering anywhere in the world our struggle is far from over.’
