Most of people’s problems can be resolved on their doorstep through an efficient LG system: PM Imran Khan


ISLAMABAD, Feb 03 (SABAH): Prime Minister Imran Khan says an effective and vibrant local government system guarantees national development.

Chairing a meeting in Islamabad on Thursday regarding upcoming local government elections in Punjab, PM Imran Khan said most of people’s problems can be resolved on their doorstep through an efficient local government system.

The Prime Minister said the objective of a local bodies system is to devolve powers at grassroots level; and for its success, every segment of the society particularly women, youth, farmers and traders must have equal representation in it.

Meanwhile Prime Minister Imran Khan has said the nation stands united behind security forces to defeat terrorists.

In a tweet on Thursday, he said we salute our brave security forces who repulsed terrorist attacks against security forces’ camps in Panjgur and Naushki in Balochistan. He said our security forces continue to give great sacrifices to protect us.

Meanwhile Prime Minister Imran Khan has left for China on a four-day official visit. He is accompanied by Foreign Minister Makhdoom Shah Mahmood Qureshi, Finance Minister Shaukat Fayaz Ahmed Tarin, Minister for Planning and Development Asad Umar, Minister for Information and Broadcasting Chaudhry Fawad Hussain, National Security Advisor Dr. Moeed Wasim Yusuf, Advisor to PM on Commerce Abdul Razzaq Dawood and Special Assistant on CPEC Khalid Mansoor.

The Prime Minister will attend the opening ceremony of the Winter Olympic Games.

During the visit, the Prime Minister will hold talks with Chinese President Xi Jinping Prime Minister Li Keqiang.

The leaders will review the entire gamut of bilateral relations, with a particular focus on stronger trade and economic cooperation including CPEC.

They will also have wide-ranging exchange of views on major regional and international issues.

The Chinese investors, having interest to invest in Pakistan, will also call on the Prime Minister.

According to Foreign Office, the visit would renew the bilateral commitment to taking the iron-clad partnership between Pakistan and China to new heights and add impetus to cooperation across multiple domains. A number of MoUs and Agreements would be concluded during the visit.
