We have full confidence in the ECP in fulfilling its legal & constitutional responsibilities: Murtaza Solangi

ISLAMABAD, Dec 22 (SABAH): Caretaker Minister for Information and Broadcasting Murtaza Solangi has reaffirmed that general elections will be held on 8th February next year. Murtaza Solangi said we have full confidence in the Election Commission of Pakistan in fulfilling its legal and constitutional responsibilities.

Talking to news men in Islamabad on Friday, Murtaza Solangi said there is no administrative of financial reason which may obstruct timely holding of elections.

The Minister said the caretaker government has to maintain cordial relations with all political parties to create conducive environment for the elections.

Replying to a question, he said the government is trying its best to resolve the issues of Baloch people.

He said all women and children of the protest sit-in by the Baloch people in the federal capital have been released while remaining people will also be released after fulfilling legal procedure.

Earlier, speaking at graduating ceremony of a training of civil servants at Information Services Academy, Murtaza Solangi urged civil servants to work with dedication in fulfilling their professional responsibilities.

He said disseminating correct information is a multifaceted and challenging job due to the changing landscape of media.

Highlighting the importance of regional languages, Murtaza Solangi said Radio Pakistan is broadcasting its transmission in twenty-three languages.

Meanwhile Murtaza Solangi has said there is no candidate or party which is being favoured by the caretaker government during its constitutional tenure.

Speaking in a television talk show, he said equal coverage is being given to all registered political parties on Pakistan Television, Radio Pakistan, and Associated Press of Pakistan.

He reiterated the government’s commitment to hold the elections on February 8.

The minister said the government has no intention to use force against the protestors camped outside the Islamabad Press Club for the past 23 days.

He said Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar has constituted a three-member committee on this matter.

Information Minister said the committee held negotiations with the protesters and immediately ordered the release of women and children. He further said several male protesters have also been released.
