CPNE delegation calls on the Chinese Consul General in Karachi Yang Yundong


KARACHI, Dec 11 (SABAH): A delegation of the Council of Pakistan Newspaper Editors (CPNE) called on Yang Yundong, Consul General of the Peoples’ Republic China, in Karachi on Monday.

Yang Yundong welcomed the guests and reassured that his country would continue its immense support for the development of Pakistan. He reiterated that the ironclad friendship between Pakistan and China will go from strength to strength. He said that China has been working on its trade infrastructure development for a long time under the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), of which China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) is a flagship project. Pakistan is our key partner in the CPEC project. We have five components of BRI currently underway, he stated. Although CPEC is not giving desired output due to the global crises, but as soon as CPEC attracts international investors, it will become one of the most successful projects, Yang Yundong said. He added that China has been working on the upgradation of CPEC and has established an institute for the training of Pakistani youth in Gwadar. China also plans to launch a number of development and educational projects for the youth of Pakistan in other mega cities.

Talking about the upcoming election, the Chinese Consul General said that China would welcome any party that wins by the ballot. He further stated that in the past when China had faced terrorism threats all ruling parties as well as the Pakistan Army extended their full support of the Chinese diplomatic mission in Pakistan. On the proposal of an intra-country payment system between Pakistan and China, Yang Yundong said that it depends on mutual understanding between the two countries.

The Secretary General CPNE, Aijaz ul Haq, presented a shield while Vice President CPNE, Aamer Mahmood presented Ajrak to the Yang Yondong. Arif Baloch, Ghulam Nabi Chandio, Maqsood Yosufi, Dr. Jabbar Khattak, Abdul Khaliq Ali, Bashir Memon, and Mudassar Alam also attended the meeting.
