Sirajul Haq urges inclusion of Hamas leadership as representative of people of Palestine in the upcoming OIC Summit, slated to take place in Riyadh

ISTANBUL/LAHORE, Nov 10 (SABAH): Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan Emir Sirajul Haq has urged the inclusion of the Hamas leadership as representative of the people of Palestine in the upcoming OIC Summit, slated to take place in Riyadh on Sunday.

This call was made during a meeting of Islamic movement leaders in Istanbul. Sirajul Haq, who is visiting Turkiye followed a three-day tour of Iran, also engaged in discussions on the Palestine issue with Turkiye’s Grand National Assembly Speaker Numan Kurtulmus. He participated in a Palestine Solidarity rally in Istanbul, addressing the gathering outside historic Fatah Mosque. He emphasized the imperative of a diplomatic and economic boycott of Israel by Muslim nations, decrying the Israeli forces’ involvement in the genocide of Palestinians despite international calls for a ceasefire.

Sirajul Haq stressed the urgency of humanitarian aid for Gaza, proposing the construction of a mega hospital at Rafah Crossing to treat injured Palestinians. “Palestinians are defenseless against the full-scale brutalities unleashed by Israeli forces on innocent civilians,” he said, calling upon Islamic countries to ensure the security and protection of the Palestinian people through the formulation of a comprehensive security plan.

Sirajul Haq reminded Muslim rulers that their rule is a trust imposed by the people, emphasizing the responsibility of leaders to authentically represent the sentiments of the Ummah for the Palestinian cause. He asserted that the JI is robustly championing the case of Palestine.

Sirajul Haq underscored the necessity of unity among the Islamic world and advocated for the establishment of an international day in solidarity with Gaza. He called on the OIC not only to designate a day for Gaza but also to establish a Palestine Fund to address the human catastrophe in the war-torn region.

He warned that the Ummah and history would not forgive rulers if they failed to take practical steps in support of the Palestinian people.
