At least 10,569 Palestinians martyred in Israeli attacks on Gaza since October 7

GAZA, Nov 8 (SABAH): At least 10,569 Palestinians martyred in Israeli attacks on Gaza since October 7. In Israel, the death toll over the same period stands at more than 1,400.

The Israeli military continues to call on residents of the north to move southwards.

United Nations monitors estimate that up to 15,000 people have passed through the corridor along the main traffic artery, Salah al-Din Street, three times the figure estimated on 6 November.

The majority, including children, elderly people and people with disabilities, left on foot with minimal belongings.

Some reported having to cross Israeli checkpoints to reach the southern areas and witnessing arrests by Israeli forces.

“We assess that our current operations are effective and successful and we’ll continue to push,” the official of Israeli said on condition of anonymity. “It’s not unlimited or forever.”

The comments reflect a back-and-forth position by various Israeli leaders since Monday last.

Earlier on Wednesday, Defence Minister Yoav Gallant said at the end of the war the Israeli army will have absolute freedom of action in Gaza without limitations on operations.

Israeli forces have killed twice as many Palestinian children in the Gaza Strip over the past month than the total number of Palestinian children killed in the occupied West Bank and Gaza combined since 1967, according to Defense for Children International-Palestine.

The NGO said on Tuesday that in addition to the number of children killed in Gaza, about 1,350 children are missing under the rubble, “most of whom are presumed dead”.

According to the latest figures by health officials in Gaza on Wednesday, at least 4,324 children have been killed in the Israeli bombardment since October 7.

UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres told reporters on Monday that Gaza was becoming a graveyard for children.
