Former IHC justice Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui files petition in Supreme Court for early hearing of his case
ISLAMABAD, Nov 1 (SABAH): Former justice Islamabad High Court (IHC) Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui has moved an application in Supreme Court of Pakistan, seeking early hearing of his case pending since October 2018.
Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui requested the court to fix his case for November 6, 2023 or during the week starting from November 6, 2023.
Shoukat Aziz Siddiqui had challenged his termination as senior judge of Islamabad High Court on October 11, 2018 by Supreme Judicial Council headed by the then Chief Justice of Pakistan Mian Saqib Nisar. In the application, federation and others have been made party.
In the application, it has been requested that his termination from service by Supreme Judicial Council should declared null and void. His case has been pending since 2018 before a special bench of Supreme Court. Last hearing of the case had been done on June 12, 2022.
Fundamental, legal, and constitutional rights are involved in this case which is why it should be fixed for hearing soon while it has been pending since 2018. He has filed the application through Advocate on Record whereas the judge has reached his retirement date of 62 years during the hearing.
