Balochistan National Party stages sit-in in front of Parliament House for release of missing persons

ISLAMABAD, Oct 30 (SABAH): Balochistan National Party (BNP) on Monday staged a sit-in in front of the Parliament House for the release of the missing persons. BNP Chief Sardar Muhammad Akhtar Jan Mengal and other leaders also participated in the sit-in.

The protestors while staging sit-in before the Parliament protested against the enforced disappearances and demanded their release forthwith. Sardar Akhtar Mengal said they were going to protest in front of the National Press Club (NPC) but the government did not like it and their sound systems were disrupted.

Talking to media persons, Pakistan People’s Party’s (PPP) Senator Mian Raza Rabbani said that it [missing persons issue] is a well-planned conspiracy which has been being implemented and not a matter of today. 

A committee was formed which presented its report. He said he was also member of that committee and added there is no need to convert someone into missing persons as if someone committed some crime it must be brought forth. He said that keeping someone as missing person and afterwards finding out of dead body of the person is upsetting.  He said there is a need of change in thinking of State on the matter.

Jamaat-e-Islami Senator Mushtaq Ahmed Khan speaking on the occasion said that he is here to express solidarity with Akhtar Mengal on behalf of the Jamaat-e-Islami. He said that Jamaat-e-Islami stands with them in their constitutional and legal war and added they took up matter of missing persons in the Upper House for releasing the missing persons.
