ECP stops PM Imran Khan from visiting Lower Dir
PESHAWAR, Jan 24 (SABAH): The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) stopped Prime Minister Imran Khan from visiting Lower Dir.
While taking action against the premier’s visit, scheduled on 27 January, the ECP Lower Dir issued a formal notification.
A notification issued by the Election Commissioner Muhammad Iqbal Tanoli to Deputy Commissioner Lower Dir to stop the public rally of the Prime Minister and to take effective measures thereof.
The notification read that the people of Lower Dir would use their right to vote on 27 March therefore, the PM should avoid visiting the district as it will influence the voters.
The Election Commission has said, “It is against the regulation to announced and inaugurate any development project after the issuance of election schedule. The visit of the prime minister will be a violation of Rules 233 and 234.”
On the other hand, Jamaat-e-Islami has announced to convene an all parties’ conference today (Tuesday) and then launch full-scale protest against the proposed visit and public gathering of the Prime Minister on January 27.
