We welcome UN monitoring team & of int’l community’s to visit the large areas in Afghanistan where poppy cultivation has been eradicated: Mohammad Suhail Shaheen


DOHA, Sep 21 (SABAH): Head, Political Office Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (IEA) in Qatar Mohammad Suhail Shaheen has said that an anti-narcotic team from Kabul comprising of Janan Azizi, country director anti-narcotic department and A. Rahman Qasimi, Assistant to Deputy-minister of interior for anti-narcotic affairs, Mirwais Qaderi from Security and Borders Affairs department of Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (IEA) foreign ministry and he along with his team from the Political Office held  separate constructive meetings with Robert C Dickson, UK charge d’Affaires to Afghanistan and UNODC representative as well as  with US technical team in Doha, Qatar.

Mohammad Suhail Shaheen said that our team presented facts and figures about the unprecedented progress made by IEA in its efforts against poppy cultivation, drug trafficking and treatment of addicts. We welcome United Nations (UN) monitoring team and of the international community’s to visit the large areas in Afghanistan where poppy cultivation has been eradicated, he said. However, there is dire need for alternative projects of livelihood for the farmers in the country whose fields have been cleared from poppy cultivation, Mohammad Suhail Shaheen said.
