JUI-F leader & PDM Spokesperson Hafiz Hamdullah injured in Mastung blast
MASTUNG/ISLAMABAD, Sep 14 (SABAH): Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Fazl (JUI-F) leader and Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) Spokesperson Hafiz Hamdullah on Thursday sustained injuries in a blast that took place in Mastung, Balochistan.
At least 11 people including Hafiz Hamdullah were injured in a bomb blast in District Mastung. The injured have been shifted to nearby hospital.
According to initial reports, the blast took place near a vehicle which injured Hamdullah and several others. Police rushed to the site of the incident and cordoned off the area.
Mustang Deputy Commissioner Abdul Razzaq Sasoli said several people were injured in the Mastang blast and added that the three injured including the JUI-F leader had been shifted to a hospital in Quetta.
The official said the JUI-F leader was provided initial medical aid in Mastung before being shifted to the provincial capital for further treatment. He said the JUI-F leader’s condition is out of danger.
Speaking to a private TV channel, JUI-F Spokesperson Aslam Ghauri said Hafiz Hamdullah sustained injuries but his condition is not critical.
“He hasn’t been critically injured. His gunmen and two of Hamdullah’s party colleagues have also been injured but their condition is stable,” he added.
Ghauri said that Hamdullah was travelling from Quetta to Kalat when he came under attack. He also expressed ignorance about the nature of the blast.
According to a health department spokesperson, the 11 injured were shifted to Shaheed Nawab Ghous Bakhsh Raisani Memorial Hospital in Mastung. The spokesperson added that one of the persons is in critical condition.
The Senior Superintendent Police (SSP) Mustang said 11 people including Hamdullah injured in the blast. The nature of the Mustang explosion is being ascertained, the senior police official added.
Caretaker Chief Minister Balochistan Mir Ali Mardan Khan Domki has strongly condemned the blast and sought the report about incident.
Balochistan Caretaker Home Minister Capt (retd) Muhammad Zubair Jamali condemned the incident, asking the authorities concerned to submit a report on the blast.
Former prime minister and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President Mian Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif said he has received the regrettable information of injury of JUI-F leader Hafiz Hamdullah and his aides in the result of blast in Mastung. In a statement issued on twitter, Shehbaz Sharif condemned the cowardly attack of terrorists in Mastung in strongest words. He appealed to the caretaker government to bring the perpetrators of the attack to justice as soon as possible while conducting the investigations. Shehbaz Sharif prayed for early recovery of all the injured including Hafiz Hamdullah.
Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Co-Chairman Asif Ali Zardari condemned the blast and prayed for the recovery of the injured. “Terrorists and their facilitators should be brought to justice,” he added.
“Terrorists and facilitators involved in terrorism should be brought under the law,” he said.
Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar has strongly condemned a terrorist attack in Mastung. In a statement on Thursday, he expressed deep sorrow over the injuries to JUI-F leader Hafiz Hamdullah and other people in the blast.
Terming the attack on JUI-F leader a dastardly act, the Prime Minister said the entire nation including him is united against terrorism. He also prayed for the early recovery of the injured.
Meanwhile, Caretaker Information Minister Murtaza Solangi has strongly denounced the terrorist attack in Mastung. In a statement, he expressed sorrow over the incident, resulting in injuries to people including JUI-F’s Hafiz Hamdullah.
The Minister said targeting innocent citizens and political personalities of the country is a cowardly act and elements involved in terrorism do not deserve any leniency. He highlighted that the whole nation stands united against this menace. Murtaza Solangi also prayed for the early recovery of the injured.
Senate Chairman Mir Muhammad Sadiq Sanjrani also strongly slammed the explosion while praying for the speedy recovery of Hamdullah and others. He called for the arrest of those who were involved in the Mastung blast.
Sindh Governor Kamran Tessori said that the blast was a conspiracy to destroy the law and order situation in Pakistan.
Caretaker Sindh Chief Minister retired Justice Maqbool Baqar also condemned the blast and expressed grief over the people injured in the incident. “The nation stands united against terrorism,” he said in a statement, praying for the swift recovery of the injured.
Meanwhile, Sindh police chief Riffat Mukhtar directed the provincial police to remain on high alert in light of the blast in Mastung, and to carry out their duties with utmost vigilance and diligence.
