Ishaq Dar, Kamran Murtaza hold meeting with DG World Trade Organization MsngoziOkonjo-lweala at Geneva
GENEVA, Sep 13 (SABAH): Leader of the House, Senate of Pakistan, Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar and Senator Kamran Murtaza Advocate held meeting with Director General, World Trade Organization (WTO) MsngoziOkonjo-lweala at the WTO Headquarters in Geneva.
Director General Okonjo-Iweala appreciated the positive contributions of Pakistan at WTO for a through fact-based and logical stances. She apprised of the challenges faced by WTO in accomplishing its work and reiterated here desire for Pakistan to benefit from the international instruments available under the WTO umbrella.
Senator Ishaq Dar highlighted the need for a concerted effort by the international community to develop a consensus on the environmental and sustainable development standards pertaining to the trade. He also emphasized the need for a balanced multilateral trade regime which benefits both developed and developing countries as well as fullest support to the countries which are being negatively affected by the climate change, particularly Pakistan which terribly suffered due to catastrophic floods last year.
