Sajjad Azhar’s book ‘Rawal Raj’ reflects cultural history of Potohar: Raja Pervez Ashraf

ISLAMABAD, Sep 12 (SABAH): Speaker National Assembly and Former Prime Minister of Pakistan Raja Pervez Ashraf attended the launching ceremony of journalist Sajjad Azhar’s book ‘Rawal Raj’ as chief  guest in National Press Club, Islamabad.

Former federal minister for information and broadcasting Pervez Rasheed, prominent Urdu poet Iftikhar Arif and large number of senior journalists also participated in the event.

While congratulating Sajjad Azhar for writing a book on the rich historical aspects of Potohar region, he said, “Potohar is a historical region and peculiarity of this region is that it has historical importance across the world.”

The speaker further said that traditionally and culturally enriched people live in Potohar region. He also said that Sajjad Azhar has enlightened the young generation about cultural aspect of the history through his book. He also said that writing a book is a very difficult task, one has to read hundreds of books to write one book. He said that Sajjad Azhar has highlighted the centuries-old civilization of Rawalpindi in his book.

Later on while responding to question of journalists regarding  return of former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and the holding of General  elections, the speaker  said , “it is appreciable and good omen  that Nawaz Sharif is returning Pakistan.” He also said that the politics and democracy are interlinked with Elections and whoever wins elections should form government

In response to another question, the speaker said that the constitution outlines that general elections be held within Ninety days. On the question asked regarding the participation of Chairman PTI in the election, he said that this is dependent upon judicial decisions and law of Pakistan.
