Shutter down strike tomorrow would be peaceful: Sirajul Haq

Rawalpindi: September 01: Jamaat-e-Islami Emir Sirajul Haq has said the shutter down strike on Saturday (tomorrow) would be peaceful and announced that the JI has planned to extend the protest movement against the former government unfair agreements with the IMF, causing a worst wave of inflation and unemployment throughout the country.

Addressing a youth convention here on Saturday, he criticized the caretaker prime minister on issuing statement regarding inflation and said the words uttered by him (the caretaker PM) was tantamount to rubbing slat on the wounds of the masses.
He held the former unity government of the PDM and the PPP responsible for the destruction of the economy. The former PM, he said, fled to London after putting the national economy on ventilator. The two ruling families, he said, were overall responsible for the present situation which made the people sleepless. He said the inflation increased during the time of the PTI government and then the PDM and the PPP had taken out rallies against it. But after coming into power, the alliance of the 13 parties failed to provide any relief to the people, he said, adding the PDM and the PPP only saved their own skin during their honeymoon in power, multiplying the miseries of a common man.

Haq expressed grief over the martyrs of army personnel in suicide attack in Bannu and said the former ruler also could not establish peace and order in the country.
The JI chief said the country needed political stability and it could only possible if the institutions stayed neutral and became apolitical. The free and fair elections were the solution to the problems, he said, demanding the polls within 90 days. He said the caretakers lacked jurisdiction to raise the electricity tariff. Their constitutional duty was to cooperate with the Election Commission in conduct of free and fair election and handed over the government to the elected representatives of the people.
He said the shutter down strike would be observed in all major cities and the shops and markers would remain close. He demanded the government take back decision to raise the power tariff. He thanked the trader community for backing the JI strike call. He said the youth was awaken now and stood firm to protect their rights. He said the JI would organize the youth in all over the country and establish an Islamic welfare state with their support.
