Syed Ali Geelani was a personality of determination: Farooq Rehmani
ISLAMABAD, August 30 (SABAH): Indian Hindutva power in Jammu and Kashmir failed to break the will-power of Syed Ali Geelani during his struggle for the freedom of Kashmir, as he was a personality of spirit, moral principles and unusual determination, says Muhammad Farooq Rehmani, Chairman Jammu and Kashmir People’s Freedom League in his glowing tributes on his 2nd martyrdom anniversary.
He said that Syed Ali Geelani Shaheed lived and died for a great and sacred cause. When the illegal and forcible occupants of Jammu and Kashmir couldn’t force him to surrender his faith and ideology before them, they used all means to torture him and finally he was arrested and detained in 2010 despite his many ailments and his own house was made a sub-jail. He was in his house sub-jail under the police and army sieges till his death on 1st Sept. 2021.
Muhammad Farooq Rehmani said that Geelani Sahib in his final years was facing serious cardiac and other ailments, but he was not freed from siege and detention, till he breathed his last. But, it was all the more shameful and sordid that the Indian authorities didn’t allow his family members to perform the martyred leaders last funeral rites and curfew was clamped over the Valley, the people weren’t allowed to offer Jenaza to the departed leader on the fateful night, he said.
Muhammad Farooq Rehmani said that the scenario after Syed Ali Geelani’s death had become more vulnerable while India military power had totally failed to suppress or win- over the people of Kashmir. He added that the martyrdom week was being observed across Jammu and Kashmir by the Kashmiris not only to remember Syed Geelani and all other martyrs of Kashmir. But also to reaffirm the People’s pledge to continue the freedom struggle till each and every Indian military man quit the Occupied region of Jammu and Kashmir and the Kashmiris achieve their right of self-determination.
