Pak, especially Balochistan, has vast mineral resources which can be utilized for strengthening of national economy: Anwarul Haq Kakar


 QUETTA, August 26 (SABAH): Caretaker Prime Minister Anwarul Haq Kakar has said that Pakistan, especially Balochistan, has vast mineral resources which can be utilized for the strengthening of the national economy.

He was chairing a high-level meeting pertaining to ongoing development projects in Quetta on Saturday. He said that exploration of mineral resources of Balochistan can be beneficial only if the province has better communication infrastructure.

He emphasized on the implementation of effective strategy to increase sources of income and employment opportunities in Balochistan.

Anwarul Haq Kakar stressed on effective use of resources and minimum wastage.

Earlier, the Chief Secretary Balochistan briefed the Prime Minister about the proposed and ongoing development projects in the province.

Meanwhile Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaarul Haq Kakar has directed mining companies to ensure the safety of laborers working in the coal mines.

He was talking to the delegation of the coal mining’ companies of Balochistan in Quetta on Saturday.

In his remarks, he said Balochistan is blessed with abundant resources of minerals but the desired benefits cannot be obtained from these minerals without the adoption of international standards.

The Prime Minister assured delegation to resolve the issues facing by the coal mining industry of province.

On their part, the delegation extended appreciation to Anwaarul Haq Kakar to include the progress of Balochistan as the topmost priorities of government.       

Meanwhile Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaarul Haq Kakar has vowed to address the issues related to the provision of clean drinking water in Balochistan on priority basis.

He was chairing a meeting in Quetta on Saturday to review the projects pertaining to the irrigation and water supply in Balochistan.

Speaking on the occasion, he said Balochistan has enormous potential in agriculture which has not been fully exploited.

Anwaarul Haq Kakar said Inter-provincial reservations on the issue of irrigation will be removed in order to strengthen the federation and accelerate the progress of country.

He was given a detailed briefing about the ongoing irrigation projects of the province including Awaran Dam, Gishkor Dam, Winder Dam, Kachi Canal, Pat feeder Canal and so forth.

The Prime Minister expressed resolve to provide all possible support in the completion of these projects despite the difficult economic situation of country.
