Did CJP ask questions like this when Nawaz was given strict punishments by implicating him in a baseless case: Maryam Nawaz questions
LAHORE, Aug 24 (SABAH): Senior Vice President of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and party’s Chief Organizer Maryam Nawaz Sharif while directly addressing to Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Justice Umar Ata Bandial has said had he asked questions like this when Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif was given strict punishments by implicating him in a baseless case.
Maryam Nawaz expressed these views while reacting to remarks given by Chief Justice Umar Ata Bandial regarding hearing of a case pertaining to Chairman Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and former prime minister Imran Khan. She further inquired does he remember such questions only for the sake of Imran Khan.
Chief Justice had remarked that the government would be questioned in connection with the plight of Chairman PTI in jail. Maryam Nawaz Sharif further said that Chairman PTI has been in jail in much better environment as compared to the state the thieves are dealt in the jails and added it was not a political case based on revenge like that of Nawaz Sharif case as here stealing was caught along with proofs.
Maryam Nawaz further said a number of opportunities were provided to Chairman PIT to clear his position but he kept on evading the court under the supervision of Chief Justice Umar Ata Bandial. Why did he not speak then, she questioned.
PML-N’s Senior Vice President maintained that Chief Justice Umar Ata Bandial was hellbent upon taking along the historical insult by denting the face of Constitution and law for the sake of his mother-in-law and offspring. She noted that he [Chief Justice] would have to answer in this regard or otherwise he would be forced to pass his life on the lines of former chief justice of Pakistan Mian Saqib Nisar while remaining anonymous.
