No compromise will be made on the protection of minorities as they too are equal citizens of country: Anwaarul Haq Kakar

JARANWALA, August 21 (SABAH): Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaarul Haq Kakar visited Jaranwala on Monday to express solidarity with the victims of Christian community, where he distributed checques worth two million rupees each amongst the affected people.

The Prime Minister also reviewed the renovation and rehabilitation work of churches and other structures that were damaged by miscreants.

Speaking on the occasion, Anwaarul Haq Kakar assured that no compromise will be made on the protection of minorities as they too are equal citizens of the country. He said there is utmost clarity amongst all the state institutions that minorities are an integral part of Pakistan as per the constitution.

Anwaarul Haq Kakar said the state of Pakistan is fully capable not only to protect its citizens, but to defeat foes of peace in the country and the region. He said the government does not believe in majoritarianism and it will resist this fascist agenda of destabilizing the region. He said such elements are enemies of Pakistan and the humanity.

The Prime Minister further reiterated his conviction to pursue and eliminate the enemies of peace and minority communities living in Pakistan.

Anwaarul Haq Kakar said the incident points out the common disease which our society faces time to time, adding that this disease is of extremism and radicalization and extremist attitudes, adding that this has nothing to with any religion, race and language. He said that this is human attitude which continues changing its shape like the Satan and infiltrates in the society like a cancer.

Anwaarul Haq Kakar said that when he came to known about this news he was very upset, adding that it took hardly two days to taking charge as caretaker prime minister when this unfortunate incident happened. He said that forthcoming chief justice of Pakistan Justice Qazi Faez Isa visited this area two days ago, Caretaker CM Punjab Mohsin Naqvi took the lead role and out military leadership came in forthcoming way and Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) General Syed Asim Munir ensured that there will be no compromise on the protection of the minority rights. He said that the human knowledge is unable to make any prediction about the future. Caretaker Prime Minister said that he wants to assure that if any person or group will attack the minorities including Christians, Hindus, Sikhs, parsis and ahmadis, then the people will find the state and state laws standing with the suppressed and not the oppressor. He said that Quran has mentioned two nations one is suppressed and second is oppressor.

Extremism, he said, has nothing to do with any religion, language or region, adding that a society where people care about each other sustains.

“The Christian community played an important role in bringing Pakistan to existence and it is the responsibility of every Muslim to protect the minority community.”

The prime minister also assured the victims that they will fight the enemies of humanity with unity as no society can survive without justice. “The enemies’ first target is on the justice system and any society can only exist with justice and fairness.”

Speaking about the incident, PM Kakar said that the Jaranwala incident represents an ailment, adding that it is a human behaviour taking Satan’s form.

“I was deeply saddened by the Jaranwala tragedy. The state stands with the oppressed and not the oppressor,” he said. The PM also added that the enemies will be brought to justice.

“I can assure you that our actions will speak louder than our speeches,” Caretaker PM Kakar said, warning that no one could predict the future, but in case, any miscreant or group that harboured evil designs against the minorities, including Sikhs, Hindus, or others, would find the authority of the government on the side of the affected segments, shielding them against any harm. He said that our actions will speak louder than our speeches.

Caretaker Interior Minister Senator Mir Sarfaraz Ahmed Khan Bugti, Caretaker Minister for Information and Broadcasting Murtaza Solangi, Caretaker Federal Minister Human Rights Khalil George, Governor Punjab Engineer Mian Muhammad Balighur Rehman, Caretaker Chief Minister Punjab Syed Mohsin Raza Naqvi, Provincial Ministers Amir Mir, Professor Dr. Javed Akram, IG Punjab Police Dr. Usman Anwar were also present on the occasion.
