Murtaza Solangi expresses resolve of the interim govt to provide a congenial environment to journalist community
ISLAMABAD, August 19 (SABAH): Caretaker Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Murtaza Solangi has expressed resolve of the interim government to provide a congenial environment to journalist community by protecting their legal rights.
Murtaza Solangi was speaking during his maiden visit to various Media Houses on Saturday after taking charge of the caretaker Information Minister. The Information Minister said protection of the rights of journalists is first priority of the interim government.
Terming the incident of robbery with senior journalist and anchor Kamran Yousaf as regrettable, he said the Punjab government is taking steps to arrest the criminals.
About upcoming general elections, Murtaza Solangi said that caretaker government will provide every possible support to Election Commission of Pakistan in conducting free, fair elections in the country. He said the Election Commission of Pakistan will fulfill all its responsibilities within the ambit of the constitution. He, however, said that Election Commission can tell better about the time of conducting elections.
About prevailing political situation in the country, the Information Minister said building national consensus on key national issues is a major challenge for the government. He expressed regret that political opposition has turned into political vendetta and intolerance which needs to be end.
The Caretaker Information Minister visited the offices of Daily Nawa-e-Waqt, The Nation, Daily Ausaf, Dunya News, Samaa News, 24 News, ARY News, Dawn News and National Press Club (NPC).
Murtaza Solangi also expressed gratitude to all media patrons, friends and acquaintances, who welcomed and encouraged him with prayers and good wishes.
