Supreme Court bars arrest of PTI Chairman by JIT in lawyer murder case, adjourned hearing till August 24
ISLAMABAD, Aug 9 (SABAH): The Supreme Court of Pakistan while hearing lawyer senior Supreme Court lawyer Abdul Razzaq Shar murder case against Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan has barred the Joint Investigation Team (JIT) to arrest PTI Chairman.
A three-member bench headed by Justice Yahya Khan Afridi and comprising Justice Sayyed Mazahar Ali Akbar Naqvi and Justice Hasan Azhar Rizvi conducted of hearing of lawyer murder case against the arrest of PTI chairman.
During the hearing of Abdul Razzaq Shar, harsh words were also exchanged between the applicant’s lawyer Amanullah Kanrani and judges of the bench. The lawyer objected to the bench and argued that a case is pending against the member of the bench Justice Hasan Azhar Rizvi in Sindh High Court regarding his seniority.
To this Justice Hassan Azhar Rizvi remarked, “You have indulged in character assassination. Which of the case is pending. Has the applicant issued directions to you in this matter?”
While addressing Amanullah Kanrani, Justice Hasan Azhar Rizvi remarked that he would be issued contempt of court notice.
During the hearing Amanullah Kanrani said Justice Sayyed Mazahar Ali Akbar Naqvi had written note to Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Umar Ata Bandial to take suo moto notice for holding of elections in Punjab.
Justice Yahya Afridi asked Amanaullah Kanrani to offer apology to judges of the bench. Upon this Amanullah Kanrani offered verbal apology but refused to tender written apology. Justice Yahya Afridi said that the bench will issue written ordered regarding the matter.
The court while adjourning the hearing of lawyer murder case till August 24 barred the arrest of PTI chairman by the JIT.
It is worth mentioning here that PTI chairman was booked on Wednesday last in the murder case of lawyer Abdur Razzaq who was targeted by unknown assailants on Airport Road in the provincial capital on the other day.
A case under murder and terrorism sections were lodged on the complaint of victim’s son. The legal fraternity continued boycotting the court proceedings throughout the province on Wednesday last.
Police said Advocate Abdur Razzaq was shot and killed near Alamo Chowk on Tuesday last. The suspects shot him with a Kalashnikov. Police shifted the body to the Civil Hospital where the post-mortem was conducted.
The deceased was one of the petitioners in a treason case against the PTI chairman. Lawyers Amanullah Kanrani and Abdur Razzaq had jointly submitted a petition in the Balochistan High Court (BHC), seeking an action against the former prime minister under the Article 6 of the Constitution.
Later, addressing a presser, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Attaullah Tarar said the PTI chief was responsible for the targeted killing of the SC lawyer in Quetta. “The blood of Abdur Razzaq will not go waste as a murder case will be registered against the former prime minister,” he said.
