Volunteers of Alkhidmat Foundation plant 25,000 more trees in Lahore in mega plantation drive under the ‘Smog Free Lahore’ campaign


LAHORE, August 05 (SABAH): The volunteers of Alkhidmat Foundation Pakistan have planted 25,000 more trees in Lahore in mega plantation drive under the “Smog Free Lahore” campaign.

In this regard a program was arranged near the Expo Center, which was attended by Secretary General Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan Ameerul Azim, Vice President Alkhidmat Foundation Pakistan Dr. Muhammad Mushtaq Ahmed Mangat, Additional Director PHA Saifullah Gondal, head of the Alkhidmat Volunteers Program Sanan Akbar, Head of MilKar Volunteers Program Muhammad Hadi Saif, heads of the different universities, male and female students, volunteers and people belonging to different walks of life.

The basic purpose of the campaign is to create awareness among the people to plant more and more trees and provide clean atmosphere while making it smog free. It is worth mentioning here that prior to this in first and second phase of the camping Alkhidmat Foundation has planted 40,000 trees. 

While addressing the ceremony Ameerul Azim said that the efforts of Alkhidmat Foundation to make Lahore smog free are appreciable as these efforts will bring big improvement in atmosphere. He said that planting even one tree is a continued charity, adding that the people should take part in the campaign vigorously and play their role for the betterment of the atmosphere.

Dr. Muhammad Mushtaq Ahmed Mangat on the occasion said that due to shortage of trees the smog increases; meanwhile in result of plantation of trees the smog decreases. Dr. Muhammad Mushtaq Ahmed Mangat we have the resolve of planting trees in whole country, adding that taking part vigorously by the youth in the campaign is welcoming. He said that 1.5 million trees will be planted during the campaign by Alkhidamt Foundation with the cooperation of PHA. He said that the trees planted by Alkhidmat Foundation will be looked after by the PHA.

Additional Director PHA Saifullah Gondal greatly hailed the human services of Alkhidmat Foundation, adding that the efforts like “Smog Free Lahore” campaign are exemplary and worth appreciation. He said that planting trees is need of the hour for remaining safe from the negative impacts of the climate change. He said that PHA team is providing every possible cooperation to Alkhidmat Foundation for making the campaign successful and process of this cooperation will reaming continue in future also.
