Defence of Human Rights strongly condemns the recent arrest of Imran Khan

ISLAMABAD, August 05 (SABAH): Defence of Human Rights Pakistan has strongly condemned the recent arrest of Chairman Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Imran Khan, as it reflects a distressing pattern of political victimization that continues to plague our nation.

According to the statement issued by DHR spokesperson, throughout history, we have witnessed a recurring cycle where politicians in power target opposition leaders and former prime ministers. This unfortunate trend, dating back to the times of Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto, perpetuates a hazardous environment where those in authority misuse their positions to imprison members of opposing parties in fabricated cases.

It is high time for this system to be overhauled. The illegal prosecution of political opponents must end immediately. Such practices not only undermine the essence of democracy but destroy the basic foundation of our political system. The consequences are far-reaching and threaten the stability of our country.

The DHR spokesperson said that we urge all stakeholders to work together in putting an end to this damaging practice. The future of our democracy is dependent on the fair treatment of all political players, ensuring a level playing field for everyone involved. The perpetrators behind these acts must be held accountable for their actions, and undivided powers must not be allowed to enable such violations.

“Let us unite in safeguarding the principles of democracy, justice, and human rights. We can only establish a strong and resilient nation free of political victimization via true collaboration. Together, we can pave the way for a better, brighter future for Pakistan” the DHR said.
