Verdict in Toshakhana case has proved PTI Chairman’s dishonesty beyond doubts: Marriyum Aurangzeb

ISLAMABAD, August 05 (SABAH): Minister for Information and Broadcasting Marriyum Aurangzeb says the verdict in Toshakhana case has proved PTI Chairman Imrann Khan’s dishonesty beyond doubts. She said that the government has not arrested Imran Khan, the trial court has convicted him after completion of the trial. She said that if the government had intention it should have arrested Imran Khan in 2022 but it was not our purpose. She said that our purpose was to strengthen the country economically.

Addressing media in Islamabad on Saturday, Marriyum Aurangzeb said the detailed verdict has proved that the PTI Chairman committed offence of corrupt practices by making and publishing false statements.

She said that the arrest of Imran Khan is being connected with arrest of Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif, adding that Nawaz Sharif was three-times elected prime minister and his name was not present in Panama but this person had leveled allegation against Nawaz Sharif. She said that Nawaz Sharif was stopped from contesting election and was removed from the party presidentship. The Minister categorically said this decision of the court has nothing to do with politics or the upcoming election as the case completed all the legal formalities and due procedure was followed.

She said after a thorough investigation the trial court announced the verdict after at least 40 hearings and the whole investigation took almost thirteen to fourteen months.

Marriyum Aurangzeb recalled that PTI Chief, during his tenure as the prime minister used NAB, FIA and other forums against his opponents without following the legal proceedings. She said our party leaders presented themselves to courts to prove their innocence in all fake cases while the PTI Chairman built a narrative against state when his corruption exposed.

Marriyum Aurangzeb said other cases against the PTI Chairman including Al Qadir Trust, Foreign Funding, Cipher are in courts and he will be charged in all of these cases as there are sufficient evidence against him.

She said that today masses have come to know that why 9th May incident occurred, adding that one thief was fleeing from his accountability.

Regarding Saturday’s Council of Common Interests (CCI) meeting, she said no final decision has been taken on any of agenda items as the discussions were delayed due to Chief Minister Baluchistan’s late arrival. The Minister urged the media not to share any misinformation regarding this sensitive matter.
