Parliamentary collaboration crucial in further cementing & enhancing close fraternal ties b/w Pakistan & Iran: Raja Pervez Ashraf


ISLAMABAD, August 03 (SABAH): Raja Pervez Ashraf, Speaker of the National Assembly of Pakistan emphasized the significance of parliamentary collaboration as one of the key drivers in further solidifying and enhancing the close fraternal ties between Pakistan and Iran during his meeting with the Iranian Foreign Minister Dr. Hossein Amir Abdollahian.

The meeting explored avenues of boosting parliamentary and economic cooperation for the benefit of the people on both sides.

Raja Pervez Ashraf remarked that Pakistan and Iran share a longstanding bond, enriched by historical connections, linguistic affinities, and cultural ties, making Iran an esteemed and brotherly neighbor to Pakistan. The parliamentary exchanges between the two nations through their parliamentary friendship groups have further played a vital role in fostering mutual understanding and cooperation.

During the meeting, the Honorable Speaker also conveyed deep appreciation for Iran’s unwavering support to the people of the Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu & Kashmir (IIOJK) in their just struggle for self-determination, highlighting the shared values that unite both countries.

He added that the bilateral relationship between Pakistan and Iran has witnessed a notable upswing particularly in recent years, characterized by elevated high-level interactions encompassing political, economic, energy and defense realms among others. He underscored that the recent joint initiatives have further bolstered economic cooperation and they will definitely contribute to the prosperity and wellbeing of two people especially in border areas.

The Iranian Foreign Minister said that Iranians consider Pakistan as their second home and eagerly want to further strengthen the cordial relations between the two sides. For the benefit of both countries, we are working jointly to expand economic cooperation and also making collective efforts to complete all ongoing projects among new initiatives.

Raja Pervez Ashraf at the end of the meeting thanked Iranian Foreign Minister and the delegation for their visit to Pakistan and remarked that the visit is a testament of the resolve of both countries to strengthen their bonds of brotherhood and deepen collaboration, with parliamentary exchanges serving as a fundamental pillar of their enduring friendship.
