President Alvi appreciates efforts of COMSTECH for enhancing cooperation among the Muslim nations in field of science & technology

ISLAMABAD, Aug 2 (SABAH): President Dr. Arif Alvi on Wednesday stressed the need for enhancing cooperation among the Muslim countries in the fields of science and technology as well as innovations.

President Dr. Arif Alvi said this while talking to a delegation of the management committee of the COMSTECH Nobel Festival. The Ambassador of Kazakhstan in Islamabad Yerzhan Kistafin also attended the meeting.

The committee members briefed the president about the objectives of the Nobel Festival aimed at ensuring access of everyone to education and science.

The Festival is participated by Nobel laureates, scientists and representatives of international organisations.

The ambassador of Kazakhstan said that his country gave special importance to educational cooperation with Pakistan. The establishment of direct aerial linkage between the two countries was welcoming, he added.

President Dr. Arif Alvi appreciated the efforts of COMSTECH for enhancing cooperation among the Muslim nations in the field of science and technology.

Meanwhile President Dr. Arif Alvi on Wednesday granted his assent to two bills after they were passed by the parliament.

The president signed Qanun-e-Shahadat (Amendment) Bill 2023 providing for amending the Qanun-e-Shahadat of 1984.

He also signed into law the Control of Narcotics Substances (Amendment) Bill 2023 which provided for amending the Control of Narcotics Substances Act of 1997.

The president assented to the said bills in exercise of the powers conferred on him under Article 75 of the constitution.

Meanwhile President Dr. Arif Alvi on Wednesday telephoned the father of Sepoy Muhammad Nasir who was martyred in an attack that took place in the Kacchi Canal area of Balochistan on July 13.

The president paid tribute to the martyred sepoy for sacrificing his life for the country’s security and saluted him for his services to the country, patriotism, and commitment to duty.

The president also conveyed gratitude, on behalf of the entire nation, to the family of the martyred.

The father of the martyred soldier expressed his desire to rename a government school in Bhakkar district after his son Sepoy Muhammad Nasir Shaheed.

President Alvi prayed to Allah Almighty to grant high ranks in paradise to the martyr and also for patience to the bereaved family.
