Members of PIPS Board of Governors unanimously decide to boost research-based initiatives in PIPS

ISLAMABAD, August 02 (SABAH): Speaker National Assembly Raja Pervez Ashraf stated that observance of merit is key to transform Pakistan Institute of Parliamentary Service (PIPS) into a centre of excellence. He further said that purpose of PIPS is to provide qualitative legislative support to Parliamentarians across the country. Moreover, he stated that qualitative research is key to ensure promotion of public-friendly legislation. He expressed these views while chairing the Board of Governors’ Meeting of PIPS in Islamabad, today.

The Members of Board of Governors PIPS unanimously emphasized to ensure merit while making appointments, particularly in PIPS and all other parliamentary institutions. The Members also stressed on the need to create strong links among provincial legislators and federal legislators. The Members also urged the need to enhance research capacity of PIPS in order to provide detailed research-based inputs to legislators.

The Board of Governors’ Meeting was attended by Hon. Deputy Chairman Senate Mirza Muhammad Afridi, Hon. Speaker Provincial Assembly Balochistan Mr. Muhammad khan Jamal, Hon. MNA Syed Ghulam Mustafa Shah, Hon. MNA Murtaza Javed Abbasi and Senior Officers of National Assembly Secretariat and PIPS.
