It is hoped that Nawaz Sharif will soon return back to Pakistan: Rana Sanaullah

ISLAMABAD, July 28 (SABAH): Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah Khan said Friday that no one in the government proposed Finance Minister Ishaq Dar’s name for caretaker prime minister. “Neither was Ishaq Dar’s name suggested, nor was it rejected. It can be a rumour,” the interior minister said.

In an interview with a private TV channel, Rana Sanaullah Khan said that, currently, talks were underway about whether a bureaucrat or a politician should be appointed to the coveted post. “In case there’s a consensus that a politician can be appointed, then it can either be Ishaq Dar or any other politician from any party,” he said. However, he added, the government would try to appoint a person acceptable to all sides.

Rana Sanaullah also spoke about the return of PML-N supremo Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif, who has been residing in London since 2019, to Pakistan. The minister said people had a wrong assumption that the incumbent government has the authority to allow Nawaz Shairf to stage a comeback in politics. “This is completely wrong. The government does not have this right,” he said, pointing fingers at the Supreme Court.

Rana Sanaullah said the top court had disqualified Nawaz Sharif through an order no one accepted. He blamed the former chief justice for being “biased” against the PML-N supremo.

The minister further added that PML-N Senior Vice President Maryam Nawaz Sharif had secured acquittals in her cases through courts, and Nawaz Sharif would do the same once he returned.

“It is hoped that Nawaz Sharif will soon return back to Pakistan. He will first secure protective bails and then secure acquittals. All the political restrictions imposed on him through conspiracies will end.”

Replying a question, Rana Sanaullah said that the National Assembly will be dissolved 48 hours prior to completion of its tenure so that the Election Commission of Pakistan has 90 days instead of 60 days for making arrangements for holding the elections.

Replying a question, Rana Sanaullah said that if we see the law and order situation from specific perspective we can not say that the law and order situation is not good. He said that the terrorism is reoccurring in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, adding that intelligence based operations are being carried out daily to eliminate this terrorism.
