PM Shehbaz presides over Apex Committee meeting of Investment Facilitation Council

ISLAMABAD, July 5 (SABAH): A meeting of the Apex Committee of the Investment Facilitation Council was held under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Mian Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif wherein the participants expressed their confidence in the restoration of economy and steps taken regarding investments
PM Shehbaz Sharif said that with the help of the Special Investment Facilitation Council, the immediate task was to increase the Foreign Direct Investment. He also praised the role of Chief of the Army staff (COAS) General Hafiz Syed Asim Munir Ahmed Shah in connection with improvement of economy of the country.
The prime minister also directed to expedite foreign investment in the country. He also ordered the council to search investment opportunities abroad while the council and the provincial government was assured of full cooperation.
During the meeting, the participants were taken into confidence over foreign visits as well as holding meetings.
Addressing on the occasion, PM Shehbaz Sharif said that the coalition government of Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) was handed over a ruined economy while bold decisions were taking the country on the path of progress and development and added that still major challenges were in the offing.
The apex committee also reviewed actions taken after the establishment of the Special Investment Facilitation Council.
According to media reports, delegations from foreign countries were likely to arrive this month for investment, while the apex committee is likely to approve the action plan for the arrival and facilitation of delegations.
PM Shehbaz Sharif said that by the virtue of its composition, Special Investment Facilitation Council will serve as a top decision-making forum to push through fundamental reforms in the structure of the economy.

PM Shehbaz Sharif said that new opportunities of jobs would be created in result of foreign investment and added that youth and women would benefit from such opportunities. He added it would open new routes of development, saying they wanted to empower the youth and women while equipping them with skills.
