Masarat Alam Butt expresses concerns over Indo-US joint declaration in Washington
SRINAGAR, June 26 (SABAH): Illegally detained Chairman of All Parties Hurriyat Conference Masarat Alam Butt has expressed serious concern over the joint declaration issued after the meeting between Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and US President Joe Biden in Washington.
Masarat Alam Butt in a message issued from the infamous Tihar Jail in New Delhi said the joint declaration did not mention the long-pending Kashmir dispute, Indian terrorism, human rights violations and arbitrary arrests of thousands of Kashmiris.
He lamented that the Biden administration played an interest-based role by ignoring the ground realities in the joint declaration and pretended to participate in the humanitarian crimes of fascist Modi. He described the declaration as misleading and said in the historic resolutions of the UN Security Council, the plebiscite has been recognized and the Kashmir dispute has been given legal status at the international level.
He said the United States, which is a member of the Security Council, has closed its eyes on Indian atrocities in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir. He said the United States remained silent on the 2018-2019 annual report released by the United Nations Human Rights Organization, in which India has been declared the worst place for minorities, which is very sad.
Masarat Alam Butt said according to the UN Charter, Kashmiris have the legal right to resist and the struggle of Kashmiris is in accordance with its resolutions. He said the United States, which has mobilized against Russia for the independence of Ukraine at this time, but there are UN resolutions on Kashmir and the United States itself has always supported these resolutions but freedom-loving activists and organizations are treated as terrorists.
The APHC Chairman said the declaration is unfair and the Biden administration should review its strategy regarding the Kashmir dispute and play its role for a sustainable solution to this long-pending dispute. He said the Biden administration should review its strategy regarding the Kashmir dispute and play its role for a permanent solution to this conflict.
He appealed to the Biden administration to realize the ground and historical facts and help settle the lingering dispute according to the UN resolutions and aspirations of the Kashmiri people.
Musrat Alam Butt strongly condemned the dismissal of Dr Nighat Shaheen and Dr Bilal by the authorities after 13 years on the charge of conspiracy against India, who conducted the post-mortem of two Kashmiri women, Aasiya and Nilofar who were raped and then killed by Indian soldiers in Shopian in 2009.
He also denounced the Indian forces forcing the worshipers to chant ‘Jai Shri Ram’ in the mosque of Zadora village in Pulwama and brutally torturing them as a result of their refusal.
He reiterated the Kashmiris’ determination to continue the struggle for freedom of Kashmir till taking it to its logical conclusion.
