Current budget has no connection with the facts as it consisted of desires: Sirajul Haq

ISLAMABAD, June 12 (SABAH): Emir Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan Sirajul Haq has said that current budget has no connection with the facts as it consisted of desires. In budget, he said a major amount of money was allocated for strengthening the interest system in the country that the coming generations have been trapped in chains of interest.

Sirajul Haq expressed these views during in an interview with a private TV channel. He further said that in his viewpoint this budget was not a facts-based budget, adding the Jamaat-e-Islami in the past as well as at present has been demanding of the across-the-board accountability.

“I’m of the view that general elections must be held in 2023 at all costs. People must be given opportunity so that they could select a new government for them. On the day of election of mayor of Karachi, all the chairmen of the Union Councils (UCs) needed to be transported to the polling station and should be given the right to cast their vote in an independent environment. In the light of facts and figures, mayor of the city should be from the Jamaat-e-Islami, he said.

He further said that assembly presents a graveyard’s view in the absence of the opposition and that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has conferred upon this opportunity to the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) government, adding perhaps it was good luck of the PDM that it was gifted a vacant field.

He further noted budget was present by such a government that is guest of mere 41 days. “If there is some constitution, law and rules and regulations of the country then this present government has to go after 41 days. Its tenure is going to finish. It is a question that whether such a government could present budget for one year or not. Now if it has presented the budget then has it some relation with the real world or not. Does this budget relate to facts and figures which was framed by the officials and read out by the Federal Minister for Finance Muhammad Ishaq Dar,” he questioned.

Sirajul Haq said that current budget does not relate to facts as it consisted of wishes. He said that a major amount of money was allocated for strengthening the interest based system in the country that the coming generations were trapped in chains of interest.

Sirajul Haq said that Prime Minister Mian Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif gave an interesting statement that they have complied with directions of managing director of International Monetary Fund (IMF) according to its spirits while agreeing on all financial matters. “Does this budget was to please the IMF or for the sake of interests of people of Pakistan,” he questioned.
