Heinous game of sabotaging elections has been underway since 1970 in the country: Liaqat Baloch
RAWALPINDI, LOWER DIR, June 12 (SABAH): Naib Emir Jamaat-e-Islami and Secretary General Milli Yakjehti Council (MYC), Liaqat Baloch has said that heinous game of sabotaging elections has been underway since 1970 in the country.
While addressing the public gatherings, workers convention, training workshop of media workers at Bajaur, Malakand, Lower Dir and Rawalpindi on Monday, Liaqat Baloch said that basic rule of politics, democracy, elections and local bodies and parliamentary system was to accept the public mandate. He deplored that state’s power and engineering have undermined the roots of the country.
Liaqat Baloch said that heinous game of sabotaging elections has been underway since 1970 in the country and added that the elections of 2012 and 2018 proved to be controversial. He further said that violating the public mandate by Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) and the government of Sindh in Karachi will adversely affect the public confidence in them. “Karachi is a big city. It has mega problems. PPP has failed in delivering to the citizens of the city since past 14 years,” he added.
One and only solution to the problems of Karachi is to accept the mandate of Jamaat-e-Islami, Liaqat Baloch said, adding Jamaat-e-Islami is an undeniable reality of the skills of public service. He noted still there is time and suitable phase available with the relevant stakeholders to develop consensus on Jamaat-e-Islami’s mayorship for pulling the city out of serious problems and warned the government that it would have to face harsh resistance while converting majority into minority. He further warned the government that tensions in the port city of Karachi would adversely affect the whole country.
Jamaat-e-Islami has geared up efforts for general elections of 2023, Liaqat Baloch said and added that through the ‘Dastak Drive’, voters were being contacted at each and every home. “Women and youth are spearheads of elections drive,” he added.
