Decrease in the GDP fiscal deficit from 4.9 % to 4.6 % is the big success of the incumbent govt: Marriyum Aurangzeb

ISLAMABAD, June 9 (SABAH): Minister for Information and Broadcasting Marriyum Aurangzeb says the 5-E Framework will prove to be game changer for ensuring economic development of the country.

In a statement issued in Islamabad on Friday, Marriyum Aurangzeb said the 5-E Framework include Exports, E-Pakistan (Water and food Security), Environment, Energy, and Equity (Turn-round Pakistan).

The Minister said under this Framework, new opportunities for business and earning livelihood through increasing exports will be encouraged.

She said promotion of education and health and check on growing population will also pave the way for de3veoopment of Pakistan.

Marriyum Aurangzeb said provision of cheap and uninterrupted energy will also excel business activities and improve economy.

She said the decrease in the GDP fiscal deficit from 4.9 percent to 4.6 percent is the big success of the incumbent government. She said that this is result of the right economic policy of the government, adding that 76 percent decrease in current account deficit is the result of the right economic policy. She said that the decrease of 40.4 percent in trade deficit shows the right steps taken regarding the economy, adding that the trade deficit decreased to $25.5 billion from $43.4 billion, which is start towards betterment.

Marriyum Aurangzeb said 29.2 percent decrease has been witnessed in imports, which has lasted impact on the economic situation. She said that as compared to tax collection of Rs 5,342 billion in 2022, Rs 6,210 billion tax was collected in 2023, adding that FBR registered 9,01,200 new tax payers against the target of 700,000 in first nine months of the current financial year. She said that decrease to $51.2 billion from $72.3 billon is step towards economic betterment.

Marriyum Aurangzeb said that in result of allocation of Rs 1.15 trillion budget for the development sector will speed up the business activities in the country and will increase employment.
