Jamaat-e-Islami to stage protest if PPP commits rigging in Karachi’s mayor elections: Hafiz Naeemur Rehman


KARACHI, June 4 (SABAH): Emir Jamaat-e-Islami Karachi, Engineer Hafiz Naeemur Rehman has said warned that Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) was not eligible for mayorship of the port city of Karachi despite the fact it committed rigging during the local bodies (LB) polls.

In a statement issued on Sunday, Engineer Hafiz Naeemur Rehman said that if rigging was committed during the mayor’s election, they would protest on this and added that PPP was not eligible for mayorship of the port city of Karachi despite the fact it committed rigging during LB polls. He further deplored that May 09 incidents were being used for arresting the people.

In the city’s local bodies’ polls, Hafiz Naeemur Rehman made it clear that Jamaat-e-Islami and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) bagged majority of votes in comparison with the PPP. He further warned that they would knock the doors of court to challenge the census rigging.
