Prominent religious scholar Hafiz Abdul Salam bin Muhammad’s death in jail is very worrisome & irreparable loss: Syed Salahuddin Ahmed

MUZAFFARABAD, June 1 (SABAH): Hizbul Mujahideen Chief and United Jihad Council Chairman Syed Salahuddin Ahmed has said that prominent religious scholar Hafiz Abdul Salam bin Muhammad Bhutvi’s death in jail was very worrisome and an irreparable loss. He said the late was an audacious person and preacher of holy war.

Syed Salahuddin Ahmed expressed these views during a special meeting of the United Jihad Council on Thursday. While paying rich tributes to religious scholar Hafiz Abdul Salam bin Muhammad, he said that when majority of religious scholars were confused about holy war in Kashmir and Afghanistan, he was never seen in such a state. He said the late religious scholar encouraged the Islamic fighters of Afghanistan and Kashmir through holy war with word but also through his action.

He further said that Hafiz Abdul Salam bin Muhammad’s enthusiastic speeches inspired hundreds of youth to launch holy war and added majority of them embraced martyrdom while fighting with the Indian oppressive forces in held valley of Jammu and Kashmir.

Chairman of United Jihad Council went on say that late religious scholar kept on fighting alongside Islamic fighters and till the last moments of his life, he continued praying for them. Syed Salahuddin Ahmed added that he had been incarcerated for choosing the right path and breathed his last behind the walls of jail. In the meeting, the participants prayed for his higher status in paradise and sympathized with his family members.

It is worth mentioning here that religious scholar Hafiz Abdul Salam bin Muhammad Bhutvi passed away in the age of 78 in the jail on 29th May and his funeral prayers were offered in Muridke and was buried there. He was born at district Kasur. His father was also a religious scholar. In 1992, he permanently shifted to Muridke and laid foundation of Jamia Addawah al Islamia and was teacher of thousands of students who acquired education from this institution.
