Farooq Rehmani condemns the Indian NIA’s demand for death sentence for Yasin Malik
ISLAMABAD, May 27 (SABAH): Muhammad Farooq Rehmani, Chairman Jammu and Kashmir People’s Freedom League and ex-Convener All Parties Hurriyat Conference AJK on Saturday condemned the Indian National Investigation Agency’s (NIA) demand for the death sentence for Muhammad Yasin Malik, the incarcerated Chairman of the Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front.
“Seeking death for Yasin Malik is a grave threat to Kashmir and doesn’t augur well for peace and peaceful ways of resolving the long-standing issue of Kashmir,” said Farooq Rehmani. “The Indian leaders don’t care for anything except choking Kashmir and sending the leaders to gallows. These are the most dark and ugly days of the Indian history.”
Farooq Rehmani said that the Indian Hindutva regime wanted to kill and hang the Kashmiri leaders and even all the Muslims to implement its new settler-policy in Jammu and Kashmir for the benefit of non-Kashmiris and non-Muslims.
“Kashmir needs peace and Muhammad Yasin Malik stood for a peaceful resolution of the dispute in accordance with the wishes of all the Muslims and non-Muslims living in the State,” said Rehmani.
He appealed to the UNHRC, Amnesty International, Human Rights Watch and Indian Human Rights activists believing in human rights to take note of the latest threat to the life of Yasin Malik by the NIA and take necessary measures to safeguard the incarcerated leader’s life in Tihar Jail.
“We appeal to the international community to take notice of the Indian government’s brutal crackdown on the Kashmiri people and its leaders,” said Farooq Rehmani. “The Indian government must stop its repressive policies in Kashmir and start a dialogue with the Kashmiri people to resolve the Kashmir issue peacefully.”
